Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses high-energy sound waves to stimulate the body’s natural healing response. At Podiatry on Plenty Road, we use EMS shockwave therapy to help treat persistent and chronic soft-tissue and tendon injuries.
Shockwave therapy can be particularly useful for conditions that have not responded to rest, exercise, footwear changes or other conservative treatments. It works by delivering targeted acoustic waves to the affected area, helping to stimulate blood flow, tissue repair and the body’s natural healing processes.
Common conditions treated include:
- Heel pain and plantar fasciitis
- Achilles tendinopathy (Achilles tendonitis)
- Other chronic tendon and soft-tissue injuries
Treatment is performed in the clinic and typically takes around 5–10 minutes per session, with a course of treatments often recommended depending on the condition and individual response.
